Mia Mathews
Mia joined the MCDG team in September 2019, influenced by a lifetime interest in criminal justice. Intrigued by real crime documentaries and cold cases, Mia enrolled in several forensic science and criminal justice courses in high school and college.
Her capstone research study focused on wrongful convictions on a national scale. Mia earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with a dual major in Business Management and Communication Studies, at Keene State College in 2014.
She honed her management skills as a Human Resource Manager and Safety Coordinator for Caffeinated Cousins d.b.a Aroma Joe’s Coffee, a company of 256 employees throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Mia decided to change her career path and became an Office Administrator for Clearly Speaking, LLC; a speech pathology practice for children with disabilities.
At this time, she met Elizabeth Maddeus, Esq., the Director of Court Operations, who was instrumental in helping Mia join the Maine Judicial Branch.
Circling back to her lifetime interest, she was able to blend her passion with her skills as an administrator. Mia says it was impossible to say no when Attorney William Bly approached her with a Legal Assistant position with the MCDG team.
A lover of the outdoors, Mia spends her spare time camping, hiking, going to the beach and exploring.

William T. Bly is a 2000 graduate of Rutgers University, where he majored in Political Science with a minor in U.S. History. He then went on to attend and graduate in 2004 from the University of Maine – School of Law. During his time in law school, Mr. Bly focused on criminal defense. He worked at the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office in Portland, Maine as an intern prosecutor. This experience allowed him to gain insight into the “ins and outs” of criminal prosecution in Maine.
