Folks, once again, we’re going to delve into the area of drugs and drug crimes and I want to touch on a couple of issues. There are times when white-collar professionals could be charged with the crime of stealing drugs.
Often times I see this with managers at businesses such as Rite-Aid or in cases where pharmacists who are in charge of controlled or scheduled drugs. Sometimes there may be problems with accurately counting these drugs and instead of putting these drugs down as lost, an employee is accused of the stealing drugs.
In cases where you’ve been accused of stealing drugs from a pharmacy and you’re an employee who you comes in contact regularly with those scheduled drugs, it may be to your benefit to get a polygraphed involved with the case.
If you pass our polygraph, then we would have you polygraphed by the Maine State Police. If you pass both those polygraphs, then we can present solid evidence of your innocence to the DA.
Of course there are many instances where a polygraph is inappropriate such as where the accusations are in fact true. In that case, we go a different route and really look to attack the evidence from a trial standpoint in order to put you in a better position to negotiate a favorable outcome.
Stealing drugs is a felony offense that can have far lasting repercussions on your future. If you are convicted of a felony drug crime, your ability to continue to work in your chosen field is doubtful at best.
Protect your future and pick up the phone, do not answer any questions with law enforcement without an attorney present, and call my office. I look forward to speaking with you soon. Thank you.
