OUI Defense Lawyers in West Bath, ME

West Bath Court Location

West Bath Maine Operating Under the Influence (OUI) LawyersIf you’re arrested for operating under the influence (OUI) in West Bath, then your case will begin in the West Bath District Court for arraignment, but will eventually be transferred down to Portland as part of the Unified Criminal Docket system in Cumberland County. Please see the post about OUIs in Portland for further details.

If your case started in Sagadohoc County, however, then it will be handled in the West Bath District Court, and will remain there unless you move to have the case transferred for jury trial in the Sagadahoc County Superior Court, in Bath, Maine. The West Bath District Court is located at 101 New Meadows Road, in West Bath, Maine. The courthouse is a single-story building in a wooded area just off Route 1. You can find driving directions on Google Maps, or the court’s website.

If you do end up transferring your case to the Sagadahoc County Superior Court, in Bath, you will want to review the post about OUI cases that go through that court.

Parking

Parking at the West Bath District Court is immediately adjacent to the courthouse, and within easy walking distance. While the court’s parking lot can get tight, it is generally enough to accommodate the court’s day-to-day functions and visitors, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a spot.

Courtroom

The West Bath District Courthouse is a small one and, though this is not saying much, is more up to date than the Sagadahoc County Superior Courthouse, in Bath – the courtrooms in West Bath are large, and have audiovisual equipment that allow attorneys to bring laptops and projectors to present video evidence or PowerPoint presentations on the projection or television screens. However, the courthouse in West Bath has begun to show its age, and is in need of some exterior work.

Process

If you are at the West Bath District Court for a docket call or a dispositional conference, expect to wait a long time. Typically, there’s only one judge available to handle the court’s daily functions, including cases, pleas, negotiations, and evidentiary hearings. Having an attorney representing you will speed up this process, though, as priority is given to those in custody, and to those who have professional representation. If you’re representing yourself in your case, you will be bumped to the bottom of the list.
