Proposed Changes to our OUI laws

It looks like our legislature is contemplating increasing a 1st offense OUI suspension from 3 months to 6 months. This is a huge change and one that will be felt immediately by the driving public. However, it is fairly in line with many other states. Over the years, states across the country have been increasing both suspension time and jail time for persons convicted of an OUI/DUI/DWI offense.

You may not be aware of this, but there have been rumblings in the news about lowering the legal BrAC limit from .08% to .05%. This alone will discourage any drinking by patrons at the bar and restaurant scene and will likely drive many small business owners of bars and restaurants out of business.

These are important issues that we face in the future and ones that can have a huge impact on your life moving forward. If you’ve been arrested for drunk driving, pick up the phone and call my office. I promise you you’ll not only feel better being represented by a top-notch DUI attorney, but you’ll be much more informed about your future going forward.
